H. "Mac" Gipson - Biography

Mac is a lifelong resident of Autauga County. He's married to Mary Lee Hughes Gipson. They have 4 children: Mary Emerson Lowry, H.M. (Hoot) Gipson III, Robert A. Gipson, and Jo Ella McIntosh; and 6 grandchildren. Mac attended Autauga County schools, graduated from Starke Military School, a veteran of the United States Army, and attended Troy State University in Montgomery. He is president of Gipson's Auto Tire, Inc. with 3 locations in Prattville and Millbrook. The Gipson family attends First United Methodist Church in Prattville. His hometown affiliations also include American Legion Post 122, the Samaritan Counseling Center Board, the Autauga Family Support Center Board, and the Children's First Board. He is a past President of the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mac Gipson is serving in the Alabama House of Representatives for a third term. His standing house committees include Education Finance and Appropriations, Ranking Minority Member, the Education Committee, the Children's First Joint Oversight Committee, and the Community Service Grant Joint Oversight Committee. Other legislative affiliations include State Department of Youth Services Board Member, member and past vice chairman of the Southern Growth Policies Board, legislative advisory committee of the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), and the Energy Council. Nationally, Mac is a Commissioner representing Alabama on the Education Commission of the States.
