REP. MAC GIPSON REAFFIRMS OPPOSITION TO OBAMA-CARE
Prattville, AL – State Representative Mac Gipson (R-Prattville) re-affirmed his opposition to the flawed Health Care Reform legislation passed Sunday night by Congress. Representative Gipson has introduced legislation to prevent “Obama-care”.
"We want to give the people the right to choose whatever health care plan they want," Gipson said. Gipson continued by saying, “My legislation would prevent any individual, employer, or health care provider from being forced to take part in a health care system against their will.” Gipson said he was “appalled” that Congress would so blatantly disregard the wishes of the American people and recklessly push forward with this flawed legislation. Gipson said, “this legislation not only effects our right to choose our health care provider, but in these times where we are seeing record unemployment this legislation places many jobs in jeopardy. This legislation will be hurting the employment of those it was ‘intended’ to protect.”
The legislation, House Bill 47, was introduced prior to the opening of the legislative session. The bill will place a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November of this year to allow the citizens of Alabama to determine whether our state should be under the federal health care overhaul. The Democratic chairman is currently holding the bill in the House Health Committee.
This is not Representative Gipson’s only legislation seeking to stop the encroachment of the federal government on powers given to the state government. Gipson has also sponsored similar legislation to prevent “Cap and Trade” from being forced on the businesses and industries of Alabama. Gipson has also sponsored the “States Right Resolution” which reaffirmed the powers reserved for the states by the US Constitution. “This resolution was simply our way of sending a message to the federal government that they do not have unchecked powers, the states are given powers by the Constitution and we will not tolerate an ever-expanding federal government stealing the states’ Constitutional powers,” said Gipson.
Representative Gipson, a U.S. Army veteran and the retired CEO of Gipson Auto Tire in Prattville and Millbrook, has represented District 88 since being elected in November 1994..
